Paul Taylor is a very diverse tattoo artist. He uses old and modern tattoo machines, hand-tapping tools, and tebori hand-pushed tools. Paul works with over 100 colors made of vegan and organic inks. Paul's propensity for perfection makes him a very detailed artist, using lots of texture, intricate rich color, with beautiful blending.
Paul started tattooing in 1990 in New Orleans. Paul moved to California in '92 and tattooed in San Francisco for 25 years. Paul has received a plethora of awards for 'best tribal tattoo' from several tattoo conventions. More recently, in the last 10 years, Paul has focused on color illustrations, doing mythological Gods, Goddesses, and monsters with nature scenes. Paul is a surrealist at heart and likes anything strange and unusual. He loves drawing bio-mechanical and bio-organic imagery.
He tattooed heavy black work and tribal tattoos for 20 years and he still loves doing black work tattoos. Paul learned to use hand-tapping tools to tattoo, which he learned to use while traveling to the island of Borneo with the Iban tribe. Paul was encouraged by members of the Iban tribe to use this traditional hand-tapping method as a way of spreading the beauty of their tattoos to the world and help their culture. Paul tattoos with both Borneo-style hand-tapping tools and tebori-influenced hand pushed tools, which he mostly uses for black work. Paul has his own Japanese-American style that he has perfected, tattooing in San Francisco for 25 years.
Paul is an empath. This allows him to pick up on energy, thoughts, and feelings, seeing internal visions for clients that are open to his custom designs.
